“D-30 days” preparations for the Gwangju Design Biennale are right on schedule as the Gwangju Institute of Design Promotion starts operating the on-site office in full swing!
The Gwangju Institute of Design Promotion (GIDP) is actively preparing for the successful opening of the 10th Gwangju Design Biennale, which is only about 30 days away. According to the GIDP (Principal Director: Song Jin-hee), the office for the 10th Gwangju Design Biennale, which will commence on September 7th, will be moved to the Biennale Exhibition Hall, and preparations for the main exhibition are well underway.
Setting up exhibition hall with incoming artwork
The exhibition hall is currently being prepared with on-site measurements, material installations, and construction work for electricity and communication facilities. Both domestic and international works are being transported by air and sea freight for the exhibitions. By the 21st of this month, construction of the exhibition hall walls will be completed, and the exhibition stage installation will follow.
Recently, the “International Poster Design Exhibition,” which received over 300 submissions from approximately 30 countries, has amplified the atmosphere of international participation. Starting from this day, a total of eight exhibition docents have begun their training and will receive both basic and advanced sessions, followed by on-site education, to guide and assist visitors throughout the Gwangju Design Biennale event.
Rising enthusiastic interest around the Gwangju Design Biennale
The excitement surrounding the Gwangju Design Biennale is also being intensified through active promotional marketing efforts. Promotional banners have been placed along the streets and overpass bridges throughout Gwangju, gradually building up the atmosphere and setting the stage for the event. The pop-up exhibition “Meet & Eat,” held at the cultural plaza on the 1st floor of the Gwangju Shinsegae Department Store, which opened on the 19th of last month, has attracted the attention of citizens and has already become a popular photo spot in town.
The concept of the opening event, “Gwangju Design Biennale Opening Ceremony with Citizens,” has been implemented out through a citizen-invitation event, and by the sixth, 130 people had eagerly gathered, demonstrating the public’s interest and enthusiasm for the Gwangju Design Biennale.
Pre-booking queue crowded with institutions, organizations, schools
Numerous institutions, organizations, schools, etc., are also actively participating in the pre-booking process for the Gwangju Design Biennale. The Gwangju Metropolitan City Corporation reserved over a thousand admission tickets through pre-booking, and organizations such as Haeyang Energy Co., Ltd, Bongseo Middle School (Wanju), Sinchang Elementary School (Gwangju), Yecheon High School (Yeosu), Boseong High School (Boseong), and Gangseo-gu District Office (Busan) have all joined the pre-booking queue.
Principal Director Song Jin-hee of the GIDP said, “With the opening of the Gwangju Design Biennale one month ahead, we are fully committed to seamless preparations for a successful event,” and added, “We will prepare the Gwangju Design Biennale as an event where visitors can see, experience, and enjoy rich and full ‘sensory satisfaction.'”
